Hey, Sluggo...many thanks for the comments in my own blog! :) I, too, remember September 11...I was up on the south tower overlooking the good city of New York with friends in September of 2000, almost one year to the day that they came down. I had always planned to return there, but it, unfortunately, was not to be. My heart and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.

I understand why you would believe that starting football season on September 11 was in poor taste...but one thing that George Bush alluded to that I agree with was that we can't stop living our lives, and we can't walk around living in despair and loathing. If we do that we allow the terrorists to accomplish exactly what they set out to do in the first place...control us with fear and intimidation. As Americans I believe that we are all above and beyond that.

Regardless, for different reasons, I also believe that football season should have waited a week, if for nothing but security concerns. On a day that would be prime for something like this to happen again it is not the smartest idea to pack stadiums with thousands of people across the United States. We should go on living our lives...but a little more caution and common sense should have come into play, methinks. What happened in New Orleans has made me question just how ready we truly are in the event of a national emergency, and we as a nation should be looking hard into that.

Anyway, sorry for the marathon response. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :) I will link to your blog next chance I get. Take care...
